Getting the best result with Windscribe
Four practical steps that matter more than the choice of app.
- Pick a server in the country of the library you want, not just the nearest one.
- Connect first, then open the streaming site or app; if you were already signed in, reload the page.
- If a title will not load, switch to another server in the same country before giving up.
- Keep the app's DNS protection switched on: a leaking DNS request can give your real location away.

- We played Strictly Come Dancing, BBC iPlayer geo-block page, then access once, on one server, on the day. Other servers and other weeks can behave differently.
- Streaming services block VPN address ranges on and off. If it fails for you, try another server in the same country.
- Other streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, Max, Amazon Prime Video) are not covered by this evidence.

Does Windscribe work with BBC iPlayer?

Which server should I connect to?
Use the country of the library you want: a UK server for BBC iPlayer, a US server for the US Netflix catalogue. The exact server we used is in the caption of each capture.

What if a stream does not load?
Reconnect to a different server in the same country, clear the browser's cookies for the streaming site, and make sure the VPN's DNS is active. If it still fails, try another server again later: providers' IP ranges are blocked and unblocked all the time.
